Commercial Property Manager
As the Commercial Property Manager for Buckingham Companies, I oversee the day to day operations of the company’s commercial real estate portfolio. Consisting of a little under 1M SF of primarily Food & Beverage Retail, I was recruited by Buckingham 2 years ago to establish and standardize processes; and develop departmental policy and procedure for the management of the commercial portfolio. Previously, I managed a variety of commercial properties, mostly consisting of traditional and medical office buildings, and retail banking facilities.
I began my real estate career 12 years ago in student housing at Purdue University (Boiler Up!), which morphed into multifamily management. This foundation has served me well as I work closely in the mixed-use urban environments with on-site residential management teams.
Retail facilities management has its unique challenges: tenant turnover is prolific, lease types vary widely, and the quality of tenant can vary, as well- even within the same property- all which affect how we manage the properties. As your President, I believe that connecting and collaborating with each other is of fundamental importance in finding creative solutions to solve the complex problems we face every day. In this sector of our industry, we deal with the unknown constantly, and we must tap into our best resource- each other. During my tenure, a priority will be creating and sourcing content for our Retail website. I envision a platform where our members can access and share media on any CRE-retail related topic of choice. Through collaboration, we can share Best Practices in retail management techniques. I look forward to facilitating learning opportunities through thoughtful and thought-provoking webinars on Industry-leading tech, news, products, design, literature, research, and practices related to the retail real estate industry, and the impact they have on how we interact with the built world every day.
I’m looking forward to serving as your Retail Council President for 2018.
